How Radical Deficit Reels Works

Read the actual hexadecimal-reel scoring formula, powered-weight normalisation and settlement rules for this original demonstration.

Two symbols become one integer

The two independent uniform reels show 0–9 and A–F, with A–F representing 10–15. If their numeric values are a and b, calculate n = 16a + b + 1. All 256 integers from 1 to 256 are equally likely. Let rad(n) be the product of distinct prime factors of n, with rad(1) = 1. The reward score is n − rad(n); its minimum is zero.

Two worked reel pairs

With reels 0 and 0, n = 1, rad(1) = 1 and score = 0, so every curve returns zero. With reels 0 and 3, n = 4, rad(4) = 2 and score = 2. Linear, Square and Cube then use weights 2, 4 and 8 respectively. The displayed statistic and reward score coincide because the subtracted minimum is zero.

Gross return and fractional carry

For curve power p = 1, 2 or 3, the multiplier is 0.96 × score^p divided by the exact mean of score^p over all 256 outcomes. The denominator uses the mean after taking the power. Raw gross return is stake × multiplier. At settlement the wallet receives floor(raw gross return + previous carry), and the remaining fraction becomes the next carry. A zero-return spin leaves carry unchanged. Gross return includes any returned stake; it is not net profit.

Exact expectation and sample measurements

The sums of the 256 weights are 9,780 for Linear, 1,365,720 for Square and 226,461,840 for Cube. Their means are those sums divided by 256. Normalising each curve by its own mean gives an exact expected gross return of 24/25, or 96%, of the stake. The expected raw net change is therefore −4% of the stake; individual sessions can differ greatly.

A source-bound test of one million rounds per curve measured about 95.93%, 95.85% and 95.96% gross return respectively. These sample estimates are distinct from the exact expectation. Changing curve alters the payout distribution, not that 96% expectation; it cannot guarantee a winning session.

Choose settings before spinning

Select one stake of 10, 20, 50 or 100 play coins; the default is 20. Choose Linear, Square or Cube before starting. Both reels share that one stake. Stake changes, curve changes, balance restoration and a second spin are blocked during settlement. There is no interim collection, bonus stage or automatic-play queue.

Wallet and unfinished reloads

A new wallet starts with 1,000 play coins. The settled balance, including zero, and fractional payout carry are saved in this browser’s local storage. When idle with fewer than 10 coins, Restore balance sets the wallet to exactly 1,000; it adds no fixed amount to the previous balance and leaves carry unchanged. These coins have no cash value.

The stake is deducted when Spin both reels starts. Reloading before settlement ends that spin without a refund, return or continuation. The deducted balance remains saved. On the next load, stake 20 and the Linear curve are selected again. An unfinished spin cannot be resumed.

Frequently asked questions

Does Cube have a higher expected return?

No. Each curve uses its own exact powered-weight mean, giving the same 96% expected raw gross return. Their payout distributions differ.

Can I resume a spin after reloading?

No. A started stake remains deducted, and an unfinished spin ends without refund or payout. Controls return to stake 20 and Linear.

Does Restore balance add 1,000 coins?

No. When idle below 10 coins, it sets the balance to exactly 1,000. Fractional carry is retained.
